Ice slinger · ice crusher for ready-mix concrete plants

The beltless ice slinger, engineered for ready-mix plants.

Designed by a mechanical engineer and built in Québec by Groupe Glascold Inc. The operator sets the 300 lb (136 kg) blocks on the feed table by forklift, four at a time, and the table holds up to eight waiting. The blocks then go into the crusher one by one: each is crushed in 13 to 20 seconds and blown through up to 150 ft of pipe, straight into the mixer, all from a single control panel.

No belts. Anywhere.

Every drive on the machine was chosen to eliminate the belts, slippage and adjustments that stop older machines in the middle of a pour.

  • Crusher driven by a 7.5 HP motor through a transmission, instead of a belt and pulley
  • Direct-drive blower
  • Block feed by a chain, driven by a 1 HP motor with a 100:1 gear reducer
  • Motors start one after another, never simultaneously, to avoid current peaks
  • Motors sized for the job, not oversized: at 480 volts, the complete unit runs on an 80 amps supply, with no costly electrical upgrade at your plant

Safety guards and control panels

One operator. One control panel. No belts.

The operator runs the whole machine from a single control panel. No belts to tension, replace or burn: our machines have none.

  • Safety guard
  • Emergency stop on both the control box and the electric panel, with a ready light when the machine is powered

Built to be maintained by your own crew

Wear parts are standard components from any industrial distributor.

Crushing tips

The tips on the roll, which crush the blocks, are bolted with self-locking nuts and can be replaced easily.

Curved-blade fan wheel

Curved blades for more efficient blowing.

UHMW contact surfaces

Crushed ice does not stick or freeze, the machine does not clog, and the flat liners change in minutes.

Vibration isolation

All motors are mounted on rubber isolators that cut out vibration.

Forklift-ready base

Lifting points marked on the base, on either side of the center of mass. No adjustment needed before a move.

Greasing every 10,000 hours

You don’t have to think about it.

Laser-cut, bolted base

Laser-cut parts bolted together: modular, easy to ship and to reassemble.

The feed table

You can see the feed table in operation in the “Our method” section of our website. It can be delivered fully assembled or fully knocked down, and its structure is fully bolted, with no welds.

  • The forklift sets four 300 lb (136 kg) blocks at a time; the table holds up to eight waiting
  • 4 × 10 ft work surface covered with UHMW: the blocks slide one by one into the crusher
  • Side rails on both sides, reversible access side
  • We supply the complete structure; the 4 × 10 ft UHMW sheet can be supplied by Groupe Glascold Inc. or bought locally to save on freight

Engineered, not improvised

The machine was designed from scratch in a formal research and development program: every weak point of earlier generations was reviewed and improved.

  • Complete 3D model of every component before fabrication
  • Finite element stress analysis on all load-bearing parts, including the base, feed table and pipe supports
  • The two units in the photo were built from the same drawings and proven in continuous production

Two versions

Stainless steel ice slinger

Stainless steel

Crusher structure in stainless steel, for ready-mix plants that want maximum corrosion resistance and easy cleaning.

Powder-coated steel ice slinger

Powder-coated steel

Steel structure with a durable powder-coat finish, in the color of your choice to match your plant or fleet.

Shipped anywhere in Canada and the United States

The ice slinger is built at our plant in Québec and shipped anywhere in Canada and the United States, ready to connect.

With the exchange rate, U.S. buyers get a top-end machine at a very good price: a stainless steel or powder-coated steel structure, no belts, and a UL 508A control panel, for much less than comparable equipment.

The same advantage applies to our 300 lb (136 kg) blocks. The exchange rate more than covers the freight, so we deliver them competitively to Boston, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Albany and New York City.

How to order

Each unit is built to order at our plant in Québec, in 600 volts for Canada or 480 volts for the United States.
